Once again, film-makers are trying to make a mockery of the Christian faith.
Their newest effort, The Ten, is a movie about people breaking all the commandments. Apart from the obvious ridiculing of the moral law of God, there is also a part where “Jesus” takes the virginity of a girl.
Joe Kovacs offers his comments here.

Sin and salvation – Flavel
Posted in Theology on July 29, 2007 | 1 Comment »
Thanks to Jim from Old Truth for this quote. As he rightly observes, the post-modern church seems to miss this vital message. It leads to all kinds of weird and wonderful “theologies”, all of them designed to make man more important in his own salvation than he really is.
Man is the object of salvation, not [...]
Human wisdom…

….is of short duration and temporal.
Psa 103:15 As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field;
Psa 103:16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more.
I am amazed at how humans can profess to be all knowing and wise, [...]
Life and worldview

In the course of my translation work of Dr. HG Stoker, I am struck by the valuable work he did in analyzing the principles of life- and world views. Every human being has a worldview, and as such cannot stand neutral when it comes to questions like:

What is his origin, purpose and destination?
Why [...]
Theistic evolution?

Roddy Bullock writes an insightful article on the topic of theistic evolution here. I also have my doubts about theistic evolution, since it seems like an untenable compromise. To hold consistently to theistic evolution means to abandon central beliefs in either theism or evolution. My general experience is that it leads to a deistic position [...]
Ultimate Freedom

Independence is freedom. As we celebrate the freedom of the USA from the rule of the British, we give thanks to God for that freedom. It meant that those who lived in the USA could rule themselves. They were no longer under the restrictions imposed by the British. America became a place for Americans, not [...]
John MacArthur on Tolerance

John MacArthur has written a short but insightful piece on tolerance here.
He makes a very powerful statement about the difference between Christian and post-modern tolerance, namely that Christian tolerance is about people, while post-modern tolerance is about ideas. Enjoy.
If you can’t beat them, ban them

The Council of Europe is contemplating a ban of creationism, because it “is not based on facts, does not use any scientific reasoning and its contents are pathetically inadequate for science classes.” and “The total rejection of science is definitely one of the most serious threats to human rights and civic rights.”
The whole report [...]
