It is with great sadness that I have learnt that a dear friend may have advanced bone marrow cancer. He has a special place in my life, because he was the first person I performed a marriage ceremony for after being ordained as a minister.
Please join me in prayer for my friend Kerry:

The Gospel
Posted in Theology on September 29, 2006 | Leave a Comment »
I’m finally back in town after a short trip to Europe. While on the flight, I read about the gospel, that most central message of Christianity.
Over the next few posts, I will talk more about the different elements of the gospel, but today I just want to present the gospel as we as Christians believe [...]
Whom He foreknew

To follow on from the free-will discussion, I want to talk about the logic of the foreknowledge of God, in the context of omnicience and omnipotence.
The passage that talks about predestination comes from Romans 8:
(Rom 8:28) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who [...]
Freedom of the will

Something a bit more serious today, I keep hearing how Calvinists (like me), deny freedom of the human will. This somehow leads to the conclusion that if humans do not have free will, then coerced salvation or sinning is God’s doing or God’s fault, and all men are robots. The choices men make are then [...]
I hear your Voice

The rumble of Thunder, the Wind whispering softly,
Throughout my being, I hear you, Father.
You call me to Your beautiful service:
Spread My Grace, spread My Love,
Honor Me with your life.
Give all you have to give,
And you shall receive all I have to give.
Love with all your being,
And I will love you [...]
Goodness me.

Who is holy? Who is good? Who is a saint?
There are a few possible answers here, but why don’t you quickly think of your own opinion of who you think is a good person? Or a holy person? Your pastor? Your mother? The Pope?
Then think why you would think that way about a particular person. [...]
Light and Darkness on the 1st day of creation
Posted in Apologetics, Theology on September 17, 2006 | 3 Comments »
This is an alternative interpretation of the first day of creation. This was published elsewhere before.
While reading through my daily dose of blogs, I came across an interesting argument regarding the inerrancy of the Bible. The source text was Genesis 1, and the argument is familiar to some of us:” How can the Bible be [...]
Why Omnipotent Grace?

Why is this blog named Omnipotent Grace?
Two reasons….
Firstly, it refers to the incredible grace of God. That grace which is so big that it covers all we can ever do. Lam 3:22-23 says:
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, great is [...]
Welcome!

Welcome, all old and new friends.
This is all a new experience for me, but hey, we all grow through new things, don’t we?
This is an unashamedly Christian journal, with the main focus being:
1. Apologetics in all its splendor (and sometimes dirt.)
2. Exegesis and devotions.
3. Rare eruptions of poetry and prose.
For now, there will be no [...]
